If the thought of a day hike in sandals has always appealed to you but you never found the room for your custom orthotics or special inserts, take a big step up to the comfort and quality of the new Bite X-Trac OS™. Unlike sport sandals with one-type-fits-all footbeds, the Bite X-Trac OS™ minimizes pain and fatigue with a special Orthosport outsole and midsole that accommodates custom orthotics and over-the-counter footbeds, resulting in comfortable amphibious and summer footwear for the rest of us. While other footwear manufacturers rely on flat or semi-contoured sandal designs, the X-Trac OS™ has a wider, slightly articulated platform with a supportive heel cup and pronounced arch shank, resulting in better stability and a flex that promotes a natural heel-to-toe walking stride. Up top is an easy-to-use nylon strap upper that dries quickly, making the X-Trac OS™ excellent for tricky river crossings, especially on backpacking trips where soaking your boots is never an acceptable option.

Its perfect for orthotics, because it has a removable "insert" that you can take out and replace with your own orthotic.

This is my second pair. (Same style/model). The first pair lasted about 2 years (worn about 4-5 months each year almost every day). The velco on the heel strap loses it's "stickability" and the side pieces that feed into the sole by the heel, wear out/pull loose over time. For $100, I hope this pair lasts longer than the last ones did. I'm size 10 in all shoes. This size 10 sandal fit perfectly.

The size 9 is a little too big. 8 would be too small. Half sizes are needed.
M. Dustoor - 2008-01-20Good but not great for the price!
Initial comfort level was good but that changed quickly after a day's use. The middle strap webbing kept bunching up (causing a sore area) since they were simply too big for normal feet even after using the additional insole. Also, the buckle at the front kept digging in till a blister formed. Got around this by wearing thick woolen socks, an option I wasn't planning on for hot weather!
