Some aggro female riders can knock the stuffing out of their down jackets, which makes sense when you consider all those down-filled fashion statements made for skiers who rarely take a turn off a finely groomed green run. Burton made their Women's Nordic Down Jacket for riding--and that's why you'll find durable, waterproof and breathable Storm-Lite shell fabric and all critical seams taped for uniform weather protection. It's filled with quality 550-down insulation that offers an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio but doesn't leave you feeling overstuffed with excess fluff. The outer Storm-Lite® 3.0-D fabric is essentially the middle of the road for Burton Storm-Lite fabric, which means you could find better vapor transfer (that breathability factor) if you paid extra. But this particular Storm-Lite fabric is excellent for snowboarding because it withstands slipping and sliding on abrasive hardpack without showing a lot of wear. The Women's Nordic Down Jacket also has a removable Contour™ Hood that offers a better fit than some floppy hood designs. We like the fact that you can stash the hood when you're riding with a helmet, then wear the hood with the jacket later when you're out at night for a weekend party.
