Built for those quick weekend overnighters and day hikes galore, the waterproof Garmont Women's Flash XCR Hiking Shoe is an all weather workhorse with a focus on comfort. Garmont's anatomical fit components combine with the G3+ Spine structure to surround the foot in a snug, stable, and cushioned lightweight hiking boot. The thermal plastic urethane spine, which lies between the self-cleaning Vibram® outsole and the polyurethane midsole offers running shoe-like forefoot flex. Side to side, however, it gives the Women's Flash XCR Hiking Shoe the underfoot stability necessary for walking on rough trails. For waterproof and breathable comfort, this versatile light hiker features a GORE-TEX® XCR® lining. The XCR stands for extended comfort range, as this liner is one of Gore's more breathable membranes.

My wife and I 'took these around Mont Blanc two springs ago, and still use 'em for day hikes when the goretex is required. Rocks, rain, up, down, I especially like the crankable lacing system, footbed, and big toe-box. Great stability, no gimmicks. Why did it take Altrec so long to start carrying these proven performers?
mrh - 2008-04-10Support combined with comfort
I bought these boots in preparation for two weeks of trekking on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. I have used them,so far,in training hikes up to 13 miles in length, while wearing my pack loaded to about 16 pounds. The boots support my feet well, provide flexibility, have adequate space in the toe box, and generally feel comfortable. I am not yet convinced that they are perfect for the planned day-after-day trek but so-far, so-good!
