I bought this coat for my 12 year old girl and she is 4'4 and 63 pounds bought her a Large-Black she wears it to school and on the bus and even on hot days it's really puffy on her and is bulky. I was deciding a Medium or Large, but a Large to last a lot of years. She has to use the bottom cords to make it not so puffy on her. It's really rommy on her and puffs up a lot. You should go bigger for the puffiness.

A WINNER
I chose to order a Mountain Hardware parka, as I noticed my friends in Crested Butte were wearing them. If these jackets can keep them warm in Crested Butte, they have to be sensationally warm. But I must admit, I was worried when I ordered this parka online, without trying one on. I read the reviews of the parka being short in the torso and arms. Should I order my regular size? A bigger size, to compensate for the shorter torso and arms? Or should I heed other advice, to order a smaller size, as you won't need to wear additional layers underneath? After agonizing on what size to order, I simply ordered my normal size. While I waited for it to arrive, I tried not to get my hopes up. I was prepared for disappointment. When it arrived (and as other reviewers have mentioned, the box is surprisingly small!), I was absolutely blown away. It fit perfectly, and it looked great. And yes, it is oh, so warm. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone. And Altrec did a great job in keeping me updated on the status of the order. Thank you, Altrec!

I rate this jacket 10/10
Great jacket. The sizing is true, and the delivery was fast. I'm stoked with the Jacket. Its warm, water proof enough to wear on the snow, its durable (had a brush with a rose bush and it didn't rip or tear). I basically treat it like dirt and it still looks great. The length on it is fantastic also, so much better then those short jackets. Also, even though its a down jacket its definitely the most flattering out of all the ones i had access to try (such as north face, Marmot etc).

Amazing Coat
It's so soft inside and out, and the pockets are so warm and comfy, too. The parka is amazingly lightweight, and can be made to fit in very tight spaces. I couldn't believe there was a parka in the box when it arrived, because the box was relatively small and so light. Most importantly, of course, it keeps me extremely warm with no layering underneath. When first taking it out of the box, I was thinking, "How can this be that good of an insulating coat???" But I have been out in sub 5F temperatures in it for decent periods of time, with only a short-sleeved T-shirt underneath, and that part of my body did not get cold at all. The pink color is perfect. The coat looks good/cute.... it's just terrific. In case it helps anyone, I am 5'7" 135 lbs., and I got a size 8. But based on the sizing chart and my measurements, I should have gotten a size 10. If the sleeve on the 8 were any shorter, they would be too short, but I have fairly long arms. I probably would have preferred the extra inch length in the arms that the 10 would have given, but the rest of the size of the 10 would have been too big, despite that being where I should fit based on my measurements. The size 8 is basically perfect for me. You definitely don't want to go bigger than you need, because you won't need/want to layer underneath.

Way better than TNF Nuptse
Pros:1. Zip-off hood for versatility; hood also velcros in front from nose down--a major protection against frigid wind 2. Includes separate stuff sack--so much easier than trying to squeeze the Nuptse in its stow pocket 3. Two-way zips--surprising useful. I slightly unzip the lower portion when sitting down so it's less restrictive & bulky at the waist or when acessing my pant pockets--this way, I don't have to untoggle then retoggle lower hemcords or lift the entire jacket bottom, which could allow cold to seep in from the back 4. I tried MH's phantom down jacket, but this one's worth the extra 12 ounces--hem & sleeve lengths longer and a down hood is priceless. The parka's extra features are also an advantage over The North Face's Nuptse--& it's cheaper! Don't worry about MH's 650 fill vs TNF's 700 fill--this thing kept me perfectly toasty during a sub-freezing Sierra snowstorm. Cons: None so far..maybe in general, I've found MH's sizing inconsistent-- I suggest trying it on at a store first, then purchase through Altrec. I'm 5'4, 115 lbs & fit the size 4 parka best. Yet when I was debating between MH's Synchro or Alchemy softshells, I needed a 6 for the Synchro, but an 8 for Alchemy. I haven't figured out their sizing formula...

excellent jacket!
i absolutely love this coat. it is more compact that i expected which is great b/c warmth is not compromised. Warm enough to wear alone, but yet not too bulky to wear as an insulating layer beneath a shell with really cold conditions.

Great
The woman’s Sub Zero Parka is fantastic! Much preferred over the plain Sub Zero Jacket because of the arm length and overall length over the hips. This jacket is very stylish and has a soft felt-type lined collar making it warm to the touch. The Zip on/off hood is a plus as well. A ten seems to be a good size for a slim woman about 69” with room for layers. Customer service and the return process is first rate! I bought the wrong size sub-zero jacket for my wife. After deciding on the Parka instead as a replacement, the return process was as easy as it gets. Simply print off a postage paid label and pop it back in the mail. Also, I originally ordered the Parka 3 day delivery so paid an additional $10. The item was special order because of stock issues. Altrec called and left a message letting me know that we might as well remove the 3 day shipping charge. Once removed, the package still arrived in a 4-5 day period.So, I would highly recommend the Sub Zero Parka and you can buy with confidence knowing that Altrec is customer friendly and extremely price competitive.

Great JAcket
I got it for my wife, and followed the advice and ordered 1 size larger that what she normally wears. It fits perfectly and very warm, not to mention light. It is not as bulky as the men's version, which is a plus for my wife. The only thing she would have like more is the waterproof material.

abv avg to great
The blue is more of an ice blue than the blue shown, but it is still very pretty. Also the jacket itself seemed not-as-thick as I had expected, but I wore it in windy 20 degree weather today and it is really WARM. I'm very happy with it, and would recommend it to anyone. It is soft, light, and the fabric feels great. I got a size 12, 2 sizes above what I normally wear, b/c I like lots of room for layers, and b/c a previous review said the sleeves were a tad short. I think that the sizes run pretty "true" and I might have gotten away with a size 10. Also I scotchgarded it and had no problem.
