Schoeller® 3XDRY® fabric gives the Outdoor Research Element Bucket Hat the versatility to handle damp days on the trail and sunny mornings on the water. A foam-stiffened brim channels water away on drizzling hikes while the elasticized Coolmax® headband wicks moisture where the trail steepens. A removable chin cord with a cordlock provides ample grip in windy conditions and freedom when not needed.

Anonymous - 2007-12-10Good Light Hat
This hat does not withstand blustery wind/rain very well. The brim is too soft and does not hold it's shape. It does excel as a sunshade, which was what I bought it for. I took it to SE Asia during the summer months where it proved very useful due to the light material that breathes well.

I was hoping to use if for hiking as well as kayaking, but the material is not stiff enough for any wind. The rim just bends.The material is perfect for water, of course, and any splash seems to be quickly evaporated.
