Sizing ChartSmartWool Men's Hiking Medium Crew Socks
A superb general hiking or backpacking sock, the SmartWool Hiking Medium Crew sock has ample cushioning for extended trips but is not so bulky that it's out of the question for day hikes. Looking beyond the cushioning, the SmartWool fibers play a major role in the comfort experience. These fibers are extremely small, with a diameter much smaller than a human hair. This makes for a very soft sock, a feeling that is very inviting to the feet the moment you slip them on. The SmartWool fibers also move moisture at a phenomenal rate, wicking away perspiration vapor before it has a chance to turn to a liquid. Another important comfort advantage of the SmartWool Hiking Medium Crew sock is the supportive arch brace. This brace feels much like a terry cloth wristband, wrapping around the mid-foot area to hold the sock in place and support the foot.
- Fabric content: 70% wool, 29% nylon, 1% spandex
- Medium full cushioning surrounds foot
- 3 x 1 rib knit leg cuff provides excellent horizontal stretch and form fit

Nice and toasty. Warm during the cool weather but not overly warm inside the house or after hiking. I have other merino wool socks (REI, Wright, and Eco Merino) and these are my favorites. I machine wash in a front load washer but line dry. I think they last longer that way.

It's one thing to buy a good pair of shoes, but good socks, I think are the key piece of equipment often overlooked. These socks are a great investment. I used these Smartwools during the bitter cold of winter in Iowa and they were the best. They are durable and have held up to tremendous hard use be it hiking and/or working on my feet for 12 hour days. They offer a nice cushion for the feet and they maintain their shape, wash after wash.

We first tried these socks while hiking in Colorado. Just bought a bunch more. They're so warm and durable. I also love the SmartWool running socks. Now I just wish I had some to wear to work, especially during our frigid winter in Ohio!

These socks are great. They are comfortable, breath well, keep your feet cool, and so far have not pilled.

I wear these socks to work most days, they stay up well and have a nice cushion, in the summer they can get a little toasty but thats expected from a mid weight sock. Overall I would really recommend them. As mentioned above you have to be a little careful when washing.
