A great utility baselayer for cool days in the backcountry, this Men's El Cap Shirt from The North Face has a soft and lightweight VaporWick El Cap pique fabric that's treated with an antimicrobial finish for odor control and rated with a Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) of 30+ for sun protection. It's an ideal pullover for climbers and backpackers who need lightweight warmth with extra wicking potential. On the front you'll find a deep zipper that allows for extra venting after the sun comes up.

Nice I seem to remember the original El Cap shirt to be thicker but this version is great! Perfect under layer for hiking, skiing, snowboarding, etc.

One Great Shirt! This is a nice shirt to wear and a cooler day with the long sleeve. The blue with the Nike ACG Air Zoom Tallac hiking shoe and a pair of black Nike short go real good together. Good for a walk or hiking and turning the ladys heads.

Good shirt The shirt wicks well and looks good. If your over 6 feet the sleeves on the large are a bit short, go for an xlarge.

relaxed and comfortable fit I bought this shirt based on all the other positive reviews and thus far they all seem right.
It leaves room for a baselayer and the vaporwick material is not itchy at all.

Versatile I typically use this shirt as a single layer for hiking and moving in winter (I hike hot so I can use this on its own down to about 25 degrees if the wind is calm). Makes a good base layer though the zipper can be felt. Does evaporate moisture well and keep me dry.
Also good around town in a pinch though it does show wear quickly.

Sweet This shirt is very nice for just about anything, its great for just wearing around the house and around town. The fabric is good is somewhat windresistant and makes an ideal shirt for running in the cold or any other sport.

Great dress shirt but order a size smaller than normal Really nice shirt but better suited for town than the summit although it would probably do fine. The fit is overly large. I normally wear a large and had to return the first one for a medium. I would buy it again since I do have to put on a clean shirt now and then when I come off the mountain.

Quality garment A qualtiy garment. Generously sized, I am 5'11" and 165 lbs and a medium fits perfect not loose and not to tight. Long length stays tucked in, if needed. Fabric is pull and pill resistant unlike some other polyester weaves. Minimal insulative value makes it perfect for high aerobic sports and as a base layer. Ordered from Altrec.com who delivered it much sooner than expected, a top flight organization.

Bad: kida baggy fit. (prefer tigher feel for a wicking shirt like this),
logo on chest doesn't stay long. (not embroidered but "printed")
overall, it works pretty well on slopes.

good value After the good luck with my purchase for my girlfriend I purchased the El Cap 1/4 zip for myself. Love the shirt...feels like soft cotton but is a superb wicking layer and versatile for packing...you can wear it as a casual town shirt or use it as a multiple layer for cool/cold hikes. Love it.

Great moisture wicking!! The shirt is great for wicking moisture away from the body. The only thing I don't like is that the inside is a bit on the rough side and even with liquid bandage covering my nipples they were rubbed raw.
So, a little finer material so that it is nice and soft and this shirt will be 5 stars.

Good basic shirt, sleaves on the short side Bought shirt as a base layer for running and outside activities in winter. Shirt is warm and functions well. I'm 6'1, and got a L, the arms are a bit on the short side, an XL would have been two roomy on the torso. I have similar tops that I can use as single layer with a vest, this shirt is not dense enough to fill that role. All in all a good shirt, but nothing to call home about.

Extremily lightweight - good shirt Great shirt - very light-weight and comfortable but also feels as though it would probably be warm (bear in mind that it's summertime right now so I haven't been able to give it the cold weather test). Particularly with the sale price it's worth the $$$.
