Description
Altrec.com Product Description:
Rated a "Best Buy" by Backpacker Magazine, The North Face Men's Fortress Peak GTX Hiking Boot refines the classic one-piece, full leather hiking boot design with plenty of comfort features. The structural integrity of one-piece leather hiking boots has never been disputed, but some designs take seasons to break in properly. The North Face Men's Fortress Peak GTX Hiking Boot gives you a head start with ergonomic Heel X-2 cushioning, multi-density footbeds and an articulated TPU shank plate. That means that you'll probably spend more time admiring the natural scenery and less time hassling with the fit. Most one-piece leather hiking boots are waterproof, but the Men's Fortress Peak GTX Hiking Boot is backed with a waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex® membrane for extra weather protection. Keep in mind that this boot is all leather--no mesh panels--so you probably won't notice much vapor transfer through the membrane compared to lighter hiking boots, but you'll appreciate the extra durability if you plan on navigating serrated talus fields. Like other quality hiking boots from The North Face, the Fortress Peak GTX Hiking Boot has a supportive Vibram® outsole with trail tread for optimal traction. It's a great balance of a classic idea infused with plenty of technical innovations.

No complaints I have to admit that at first these boots killed my feet. But as time went on and as they broke in they have become very comfortable. Now I wear them all day long for work and hunting. Not only now are they comfortable. They are also waterproof, have great traction, sweet lacing system and provide me with great ankle support.

Good Boot I wear them for work almost daily sometimes as long as sixteen hours. Comfortable and fit true to size but did need to wear a couple of times to get broke in. Not really any heavier than any other hiking boot I've worn. Overall very satisfied.

Poor boots I went hiking and fell out of a tree. I blame these dang boots! then the leather striped off and the north face emblem fell off. Disapointing to say the least. Not only that but i spent money on these when I should have taken my girlfriend out for her birthday-- and she dumped me, all the boot's fault.

does not last 3 months I bought these boots: 150 dollars. 1 year warranty and life time warranty... well: my first pair got a hole on the junction of the Gore-Tex + leather. Then they were nice and replaced it (which is not ideal - to break in two pair of boots). The second pair lasted exactly 3 months and I did not hike that much. It had a defect and a plastic piece inside the boot forces the leather: another hole!!! This 2nd pair they do not replaced or repair. Conclusion: the north face might have good products, but boots are extremely disappointing! I will never buy again. After all the second pair was new and they have to stand for it! 3 months is ridiculous.

They are the BEST!! I have worked in the cold weather for over 23 years and have never had a better shoe or boot. These boots are the best in the world. They kept my feet warm and dry, I liked them so much I told my co-workers, and they just happened to "disappear", so I am ordering another pair.

All-leather boot for one who doesn't quite want a winter boot I bought this boots a month ago so I can't say much about the durability yet, but they appear to be a pretty solid boot. I have had a couple trial runs with them and so far I am very impressed. My first trial run was backpacking on the Oregon Coast. I trudged through calf deep mud and flash floods. The boots kept my feet nice a dry, and with a hose and a wash rag the clean up was easy. After that I took them to the Bitteroot-Selway Wilderness Area in the snow for some snowshoeing/ski-mountaineering. The waterproofness once again didn't let me down, and my feet stayed warm the whole trip. The stiffer Vibram sole makes them work well for snowshowing and alpine scrambling. I would recommend these boots to anyone who needs a good classic mountaineering leather boot for both the winter and the wet season. I have yet to find out if they overheat in the summertime.

Great Boots I have hiked and backpacked in these boots for almost two years and they are still going strong. I expect them to last a least a couple of more years. They are durable comfortable and well made.

Comfortable,Low price for features, secure feeling These boots have been so comfortable to wear I find my self putting them on in the morning and not taking them off until I crawl into bed at night. Which is way more than I can say about other boots I have had.The northotic insoles in these boots are sweeet to my feet. Excellent job North Face!

Nice, but nothing to get too excited about. Comfortable but are a little warm, better for fall and spring. Tongue seems a bit big.

Like wearing slippers Great all conditions boots: Able to handle the concrete jungle of Chicago, 3' winter back-country hikes in Canada and balmy, slushy expeditions in northern Michigan. If you are looking for a pair of minimal maintenance boots w/ slipper like comfort... strap into a pair.

Comfort out of the box I really dig these boots, for looks and comfort. No need to break them in, but did anyway, with no sign of defect or unusual wear. True to size. Will trek through Europe with ease. Altrec shipped super fast.

Excellent Boots! I wore these boots for day long hikes through the mountains of Colorado in July. They are a bit heavy, but excellent durability and traction on dry surfaces, however very slippery on wet surfaces. They breath very well, my feet were not too hot for summer time and they kept my feet warm through the snow. The service from Altrec was great. I received my purchase in a timely fashion. Overall a great buy!

Great boot, Really tough! I put these babies to the test the same day they arrived. There was two inches of snow, ice and mud on the steep hill behind my property. I climbed for one hour strait without any problem. I was shocked to find no scuffs as I was toe kicking the whole time. Also, they are softer than my last all-leather. - Thanks North Face!

poor material quality Great look, light and comfortable.
Too bad it does not last long. Water could get in after using for less than a year (no hiking).
