These worked great! The ski weather at Heavenly was "warm", 40-50 deg by mid-day, but I just zipped open my thigh vents and was comfortable. I plan on ordering some for my family members.

Great insulated shell. I got a pair for my father as well as myself. I have also used these in the past. Very comfortable and flexible (I am a telemark skiier). Skiing in very cold to moderately cold conditions and always felt good. Only request would be that they add adjustable gaiter (a la patagonia) for keeping out snow no matter the ankle size.

A top notch outer shell I know this pant is ideally designed for outdoor snow activities but it can also do well as a general outdoor pant. In the later role however one would wish for rear pockets - a feature that is not desired for snow sports so to prevent falling injuries.
The tricot lining gives the pant a smooth comfortable feel - necessary for the abrasion-resistent shell fabric. The water repellency / proofness is superb.
The built in gaiter keeps out debris from entering your boot - a nice plus.
The velcro tabs on the waists adjust for the potential for multiple layers you may have under it. Order your regular size, it can expand or be contracted for fit needs.

The North Face Men's Freedom Pant Superb - from fast groomers to the steep and deep, these pants and comfortable, warm and dry - and sharp. When needed for higher temps during Spring ski, side vents open from hip to knee and rapidly cool you off (built in mesh still covers your leg or base layer when vent is open).
I am 6'2" 195 lb 34" waist - large long is a perfect fit, though it could easily accompany a greater girth at the waist with the adjustable waist straps (velcro and they stay put). I recommend wearing a thick (2") belt with them...just my preference.
Love the simplicity of the gator design...no zippers, velceo and all that garbage to deal with...gaiter cuff is seamed, and outer legging simply pulls down over top of ski boot. Very smart design.
Though these pants are not insulated, wearing just a pair of Smartwool or Hot Chilly's base layer, my legs have been very comfortable down to -5 to 0 degrees Fahrenheit with high wind (30+ mph).
Can't go wrong and the price is reasonable! Go for it!

The best outdoor pant I've worn. I have short legs, 29" inseam and these pants, size short, fit me perfectly. They are wonderful for skiing and all other activities I do. Not to warm for snowshoeing with the vents open. Will wear these from now on. Love them.

Excellent fit for 6 Purchased for my husband for our Stowe ski trip and we got there for the 2007 Valentines blizzard. Very cold -6 w/o wind chill but waited for single digits for skiing and sledding. He wore 2 pairs of long johns and was cozy warm. Excellent product

First rate winter pants I have two pairs as the first pair being seven years old are getting rather gnarly. I use them for wilderness snow camping and snow shoeing. At times I have worn them everyday for two months in a row. They have never let me down. I highly recommend them!!
