The Redpoint Jacket was wonderful in Argentina
This jacket is light weight (key for packing for a week's worth of sight-seeing), and warm enough to wear a golf shirt underneath even in 2C weather. It was versatile and it fit well. I made the right choice.
warm
very warm but not too hot. Perfect for 28-40 degrees. I purchased this for less than $100 - bargain of the year!
Very light and warm!
Perfect for the wind we get here in San Francisco. Can't wait till try it in the rain.
warm and light with decent look
I like this jacket because of very decent look. It is very warm and light, that was the main reason I bought it when I looked at Altrec and when I got it I was so happy that I made this decision. It is one of the best jackets I have bought.
Light, simple and warm!
Purchased the jacket towards the end of season - hoping to keep it for the next season. Well, mother nature decided to extend winter this year, I get to take the Redpoint out for a live test. It performed just I expected - providing warmth and enough water resistance to withstand the light snow / rain. Very pleased with the performance of the jacket!
Great for N. Euro. summer weather
A perfect light weight carry along jacket for those early morning and late in the evening time jacket.
Best
I was a little worried when it came packed in a small box but this small jacket is big on warmth. I could probably wear this into winter. Great for casual wear and doing stuff outside. I bought the XL and it fit perfectly! I want to get more of them in other colors.
Great jacket for my urban nightlife
This jacket is warm, light and very comfortable. When I first received the jacket I felt it might not be warm enough cause of its light weight but that's not been the case in the 35-45 degree weather of Seattle that we see even in March. It also breaks wind pretty well. Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase.
Light jacket that delivers warmth!
Purchased this jacket to store for the next winter season. Its spring but the winter refused to leave - so I had to put this jacket to the test. It performed very well, it keeps you warm inside even on a cold winter wind blowing. It did not disappoint -equally great jacket compared to my old Moonstone cirrus jacket.
Redpoint Jacket
The Redpoint Jacket is perhaps the best insulating liner ever! It is light, warm, comfortable, durable and form fitting. When pared with the TNF Mountain Light Jacket, it keeps me warm and comfy in all kinds of outdoors conditions and very comfy in temperatures in the 40s and 50s. Would highly recommend this jacket/liner.....along with the Mountain Light Jacket, Venture Jacket, and Bionic Jacket.....all purchased from Altrec.
Buy It.
True to size. Adds good warmth. Great layering piece. Great looks. Blocks a majority of wind. Packs right into the pocket for easy carrying. A must have in your arsenal of jackets in your closet. Buy it!
BEST Jacket for a Server's Room Environment
I brought this jacket because of the chill environment in my office that contains multiple servers. The jacket is light, durable, and is multiple functional. I use this jacket for work and wearing it during the winter in Southern California. I own two different colors in this same jacket. This jacket made me a North Faces customer for life.I forgot to mention also that Altrec.com have the best customer service level when it comes to return and selection of products.
Awesome Jacket!!!
Wore this jacket skiing in low 20s - teens temps. It was almost too warm. Kept me dry the whole time. Primaloft is way smaller than down jackets and keeps you just as warm. Perfect all around jacket!
Great addition to any North Face shell!
I purchased the Redpoint Jacket as a gift for my husband. He was very happy with it. He already had the Trinity Triclimate jacket, which includes a shell and fleece liner. He is now using the Redpoint jacket as the liner instead of the fleece as the fabric in the Redpoint makes it easier to slip on over a sweater - not so much static. And it zips in to the shell and fits perfectly! I would definitely reccommend it. Thank you.
I love this jacket
I shopped around A LOT, and finally found what I was looking for in the Redpoint Jacket. Thin and stylish, yet warm. For the especially cold days I will be buying a fleece to go under it, great jacket!
Great warmth for weight
Packs down light and small. Great warmth for weight and the shell and insulation make it more versatile then down. I use this for summer nights backpacking high sierras and have used on the inca trail at over 13k feet. A great value.
happy owner
after a long search in a lot of places i finally found just what i needed to go hiking in cold weather at an affordable price, the redpoint is really light and warm. You won't be disappointed at all.
Just plain comfortable
Very warm and comfortable, and above all is not bulky at all, which allows me to drive with it on, on chilly mornings. Very much satisfied with jacket. Frank.
Great buy!
This is a great jacket! Perfect weight for after a run or to use as everyday jacket. Rolls up nicely to pack for insulation layer during a break on a hike. Very happy with the coat!!!
Nice and warm!
I purchased this jacket to keep me warm when a fleece jacket didn't cut it. The elastic wrist cuffs and the elastic waist hem cinch cords keep the cold out. The DWR finish is a nice touch for damp conditions and you don't have to worry about the insulation going flat like down feathers would. I look forward to using this under my parka shell come snowboard season. I was a bit skeptical about the primaloft insulation but it is actually quite warm!
great product at great price
The Jacket is warm and very light. I have used it as my primary jacket and has served me well thus far. I have also enjoyed the packing feature. However the blue seems to be a bit brighter in person that it did on the picture. No real complaints.
Surprisingly warm
I got this jacket just in time for November chills. I can wear it with only a thin layer under it and still be warm. This is definitely my favorite jacket. The best North Face jacket you can get for the price.
Looks great and value for money
The redpoint jacket did not disappoint at all. A size small fits just right for my Asian built, being 1.7m and 60kg. Plus it looks fantastic and presentable, so much as that I could even wear it to office on cold days. Speedy and reliable service from Altrec too. Bravo!
very warm and nice!
nice jacket, nice fit, warm and light...i havent prove it yet with rain...
Great mid-layer insulator jacket
The Redpoint jacket is a superb layer under a shell in cold weather. I am six feet tall and a large size fits well. The jacket is so comfortable to wear I barely know that I am wearing it. It packs well and I plan to use it snowshoeing and traveling in colder weather.
Primaloft One is THE ONE
My husband and I had old Primaloft jackets, which we loved, but they were getting old and new ones were hard to find until the Redpoint. Primaloft is warmer than most other synthetic insultations, but breaths quite well. I have never been more comfortable with any other light weight insulation. The jacket design can be dressed up or down and is just long enough in back so cold won't sneak up. And both men's and women's zip into our LLBean Gore-tex XCR parkas which make for the perfect fall/winter jacket. Buy the Redpoint you won't be disappointed. Sizing ideas...my husband is an XL in shirts and an XL was perfect. I am a size 12/Large and the Large was perfect (just enough room for layering, but not too loose or too tight). Also the neck sizing on these jackets are just right. And ALTREC is just awesome. Never any problems ordering and never any problems returning. Just excellent.
Wonderful insulator jacket
This jacket is lightweight (for its warmness), yet an excellent insulator. It's water resistant, windproof, and really warm. It definitely gives you better weather protection than fleece; but it's lighter and less buky than coat. It's stylish too. I'm 160cm and 58kg, and I find small size fits well. Not too loose as many coats, but it still gives you space for layering (albeit only for base-layer, shirt, and light sweater). The medium size I guess would be too big for me, and the sleeves would be much too long. The empire blue color that I have looks fantastic! You will look sharp if you wear this jacket in town. It would be nice thou if the collar is brushed with some light fleece, but that's just a minor thing. As always, Altrec is a fantastic company. The jacket arrived very quickly although it's on free shipping. No tax too. Highly recommend the jacket and order it from Altrec.
A great, all-around light weight layer for zip-in or alone
Purchased the redpoint jacket as a zip-in layer to TNF mountain light - a perfect combo at <2kg, and very warm. The Redpoint can also be worn alone, although this layer is not as form-fitting as a softshell, so it doesn't have the same degree of wind protection.
Great jacket on its own or zipped into a shell
I had a North Face down liner and shell for years, until it was stolen. Not wanting to face that possibility again, I spent less on my next one: a Columbia parka with zip in lining. It was a nice coat, but I never was as happy with it. I gotta say I really like the superior waterproofing of the Gore fabric on the higher-end North Face products. This year I decided to spring for another North Face system, and I started with the Redpoint Jacket. It seems warm enough for the coldest days in Pennsylvania, keeping me happy even down to 10 degrees. The Primaloft filling is cheaper than down, but it seems to perform as well and is a little less bulky. I intend to zip this in a shell for waterproofing and a little extra warmth, but even without the shell, I can use this as a stand-alone jacket. It has nicely placed side pockets (some coats have them too high or too low), and the Napoleon pocket on the left chest is great for an additional item. My vow now is not to hang it in public closets!
GREAT jacket, one of my favorites
I had some trouble picking between the redpoint and the Mountain Hardwear chugach jacket. Both are light and warm. Both are seriously awesome jackets. I just happen to like the redpoints fit and look a little better. It fits a little tighter and I prefer the colors. All in all, you can't go wrong with either jacket, it just depends on if you like it bigger (Mountain Hardwear), or tighter (The North Face). This is one of my favorites. Great great great jacket.

The North Face Redpoint Jacket is an EXCELLENT product. My order from altrec.com was my first purchase from them. Ordering from the website was easy, color selection good, the price was consistent with other Retailers. Delivery, packaging and shipping was fast. The Redpoint Jacket is very lightweight and flexible. The Redpoint Jacket keeps me much warmer than I expected when compared to Lands End products. The Redpoint jacket is windproof, water resistant and a very good jacket for the price. I own four colors of the Redpoint jacket. I recommend that you purchase a Redpoint jacket today. You will not be sorry!
Great jacket overall
The North Face Mens Redpoint Jacket is a light weight, very warm and perfect for typical Fall/Entry Winter weather. When the weather got warmer as it did this season, I packed the jacket into my backpack with out any problems. I Highly recommend this jacket.
Redpoint Jacket
This jacket is awsome! I was hiking in 10 degree weather with this jacket and I was fine. Very warm, lightweight, waterproof and a good wind blocker. It's the best jacket I've purchased yet! You can compact this jacket in the left pocket which is nice for backpacking.
Very good lightweight jacket
A very good jacket and a great liner for a parka or jacket shell. Not quite as warm as I expected from other reviews but still good and not as bulky as down.Air can come up from bottom or around neck so keep draw cord on bottom snug. I would have prefered a warmer lining, especially around neck, but that may have increased bulk and weight.Overall, a great jacket for the in between chilly and really cold weather or as a liner.
AMAZING
Fell in love with this jacket right away! This jacket not only is small, but it actually keeps you warm in the winter time. (Cannot believe it...it is mind boggling if you tell me) Love it so much that I went to buy a women's redpoint for my wife and she just can't seem to take it off wherever she goes now. This is the BEST investment I'm telling you.
Very Stylish
Lisa S. won't be able to resist me in this baby.
great jacket
Awesome jacket. Light, warm and perfect for pocket mulching.
Great
Excellent value. Very warm and warmer than expected for its weight and thickness. I don't feel restricted at all with this on. Other bulky jackets you can not move about freely, this one you can. Very happy.

Great Service, Great Product!
My experience with altrec.com, on my first purchase from them, over all was a great one. The North Face Redpoint Jacket I ordered from them arrived very quickly, and at a very reasonable delivery price. When you add that to the discounted price of the jacket I still ended up saving about 25% of what I would have spent normally. The Redpoint jacket is just what I wanted. Something that is watertight, wind proof, and very warm. Good for light snow. Over all a great buy.
The best dual-purpose jacket made!
The North Face Redpoint jacket is a great dual-purpose jacket. It is very light, yet provides excellent weather protection when worn alone. As a jacket liner, its light weight makes it less bulky than other fleece liners. The fabric used makes it very easy to slip in and out of a shell. You simply cannot go wrong with this jacket. A great investment.
Versatile, warm Jacket
I'm going to purchase a second one. This jacket is good looking, very light, and very warm. It resists water and wind and stuffs into it's pocket to make a nice backpacking pillow. It could be the only jacket you need 90% of the time. It weighs the same as a light fleece but is windproof and watertight. Forget 'softshells' The Redpoint is actually warm, quite warm...get this one. Love the napoleon pocket!
Couldn't be more happy!!
I searched high and low for a jacket with similar features and there aren't any like it. I couldn't be happier now that I own the Redpoint. Don't hesitate to buy one, I love mine.
Good value, warmer than expected for its size.
This is a great choice if you want a coat that is not too large but still provides a substantial amount of warmth. The jacket falls between full-out winter parka and a fall-time fleece. I've been wearing mine as a winter coat and it is working perfectly. Other reviews complained about the "napolean" zipper getting jammed...I've had no such problem. In fact, I find the breast pocket perfect for holding my cell phone and wallet. Overall, I give this jacket a strong recommendation.
